FAQ: FAQ
SHOULD I HAVE THE OLD INSULATION REMOVED?
Yes, if you've had a rodent infestation resulting in contaminated insulation, are removing the ceiling for a remodel, or want to have air leaks into the attic sealed off. Otherwise you can insulate over existing insulation.
HOW MUCH INSULATION DO I NEED?
We recommend R-38 for attics over living area which is about 13"-14" inches of loose fill fiberglass, 12" of fiberglass batt, or 10" of loose fill cellulose.
IS IT BETTER TO USE BATT OR BLOWN IN INSULATION?
If there is existing drywall we recommend blown in fiberglass insulation for most projects as it is faster and more cost effective. We recommend batt insulation for yet to be finished areas such as new construction, additions, and remodels.
